Life Manager Pro is built by Rick Laymance, an independent developer. It's not a startup, there's no team, and there are no investors — which is why it's a one-time purchase rather than a subscription, and why your data stays on your own machine rather than on servers someone has to keep paying for.

This app originated from a daily pain point I was trying to solve: juggling multiple projects and endless meetings, and having a hard time keeping things straight. Meeting recorders helped, but there was a problem. They joined my meetings as a bot, which caused issues and honestly creeped people out. I needed the transcripts and action items from back-to-back meetings, without the bot.

So I built a meeting recorder that operates without one. From there the functionality expanded. I needed to track a lot of different things, and I loved Notion's views, conditional formatting, and other features, so I built that into Life Manager Pro too.

This isn't something I built to sell. I built it to make my own life easier and it turned into a product from there. I use it every single day, tracking 20-30 projects along with tasks, meetings, notes, CRM, and pipeline in one place.

A native Mac app for running your work and your life out of one place: tasks and projects, a personal CRM, goals and habits, notes, a journal, and two-way calendar sync. Projects carry tasks, notes, and updates, and you can view any of it as a table, kanban board, or Gantt chart, save your own filtered views, and add custom fields to any record.

What's unusual is how work gets into it. Life Manager Pro detects your Zoom, Teams, Webex, and Slack calls, records them without putting a bot in the meeting, and transcribes them on your own machine with Whisper. The action items become real tasks sitting next to the projects and goals they belong to, and the attendees connect to CRM contacts. The meeting stops being an artifact you archive and becomes an input to the system you already work from.

That combination is also why it's a one-time $49 rather than a subscription or another free notetaker. Standalone meeting recorders hand you a transcript and leave the rest to you; task managers don't know your meetings happened. Everything lives in a SQLite database on your Mac, with no account and no cloud sync.

Meeting audio never leaves your Mac. Transcription runs on-device using Whisper, and it works with no network connection at all.

The one exception, stated plainly because it matters: the optional AI analysis step that produces summaries and action items can call Anthropic's or OpenAI's API using your own API key, and it sends transcript text only, never audio. You can switch it off entirely and keep a purely local recording and transcript.

We don't claim HIPAA compliance. No software is HIPAA compliant by itself. On-device processing removes the third-party disclosure that makes cloud notetakers hard to clear, but it doesn't replace your own compliance review.
